Why are so many people against lap band surgery?

I've had my lapband for a year now and its the best thing that's ever happend to me. I tried diets, weight loss groups etc... nothing worked for me and same thing for thousands of other people. I've heard people say "its the easy way out" and its not, not at all. These people obviously don't do the research before making such rediciouls comments. I'm 100% against gastric byp because that is dangerous and bad for your body, so i'm not talking about that. Any non rude imput please
