Heart of Darkness by Conrad help about contrasting cultures within the book please!?

Marlow is not the best example of the European culture. Although he is European and does share their values he does more observe and report than action in the novel. But what he observes and chooses to report is very telling about his character. Try the women...look at Kurtz's mistress vs his fiance, Marlow's comments about them are very revealing for his character. Or you could look at how Marlow notices the condition of the African native population vs his observation of the company's practices. You could possibly use the company's practices in Africa vs the company's activities in Europe. Marlow is able to observe both.
